Décor Tips

Hanging Drapes

Suzart, 2011

With dark curtains, the room will look more dramatic and more cozy.

With lighter curtains, the room will feel more airy, spacious and it will especially accentuate the ceiling height, making the room seem larger.
Patterns also play a big role (i.e. striped drapes will give the illusion that the ceiling is higher than it really is)
To set up drapes in a room, you should add a minimum of 3 inches for each side of the window to estimate the placement of the rod brackets. (This will equal a total of 6 additional inches to your window.)
For full curtains, make sure that the fabric is at least twice the width of the window measurement. A curtain that is the same width as the window will not be able to hang in folds.

Pantone Colour Trends

Summer 2012 Interiors

A touch of the hottest new colours in your home can add character to focal points and keep your home feeling updated and fresh. It can be as simple as adding a few accessories or updating the drapes to one of the stunning new pantone colours, but the results will transform your space and freshen up your home for the summer.
If your room is spacious and you have few pieces of furniture, choose a bold colour on your walls as your focal point, or add interesting features such as a variety of colourful candle holders...your imagination is the only limit

What is all this Fuss about Focal Points?
Suzart, May 2012

Here is a little tip if you're planning to redecorate your boring room "Summer is almost around the corner and you want a fresh look" If your room is spacious and you have very few pieces of furniture, choose a bold colour on your walls as your focal point, reposition your furniture and add interesting features such as a variety of candle holders and a big floor lamp to fill that corner over a chair or create an ambiance with a picture gallery from your travels.
If your room is on a small scale, too crowded with a lot of furniture, you can use a neutral paint colour but not necessarily a beige or white. Add calming blues or greens, soft lighter tones, then work around your biggest item in that room.
